It's a busy time of year, and I find that I am reminded of past traditions, and making new traditions with our family.  We are working on what are 'our' traditions, and what we want to do for our family, and it changes/adjusts as the kids have gotten a bit older.

One thing I started a few years ago regarding gifts was following this little guide:

Something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read!

That works within any budget, and keeps Christmas easy for me to keep track! It also doesn't feel as overwhelming.  Our first Christmas as a family with kids was so.much.stuff!

Other traditons we have include, Christmas Eve service, Eggs Benny on Christmas morning, and of course turkey dinner!  We have both of our families local, so we spend some time with each of them as well.  We are working on teaching our kids about experiences and not just 'stuff', as we have found it becomes overwhelming for them and for us.  So trying to be more specific/mindful about what we are adding to our home.  We don't have a ton of extra space, and the reality for our kids, if theres too much going on, they claim there is "nothing to play with"  (enter toy rotation which has been a game changer in our life!)

I am looking forward to this Christmas, its such a magical time, and we are above all else, celebrating Jesus' birth, and what that means for us.  I love that we can share that with our kids through stories and song, and it is the root of the season!  I love this time of year, with family, friends, the coziness of lights, and the delicious food.  But ultimately I love being able to reflect on our Savior, years ago, born in a manger to bring us such a gift for life.  If you want to learn more, I encourage you to read thorugh Luke and see what is revealed to you, this Christmas season.

Much love,
